Album Title Spoiler Alert: Lucid

Top of the morning to you!  That's a glimpse of exactly how I feel today because I'm brimming with excitement and anticipation for the new album (drum roll please)...  Lucid! That's right, I have finally decided upon a the title of the new album and it will be one of only two albums I've ever released mirroring the title of a song from the album.  Not sure how much I've eluded to the theme of this new album thus far but it's my first attempt at a full blown "concept" album.  I've credited some major influences throughout my vlog updates, such as Kate Bush, who have directly inspired the concept album approach and it's something I've been dying to do for yours...  What took me so long?  Good question!  My suspicion is that I've been reluctant to swim too far against the mainstream but I suppose there is a time for everything : )

Lucid is one of my favorite new songs as it truly encapsulates the industrial sounds I've come to love in artists like Kate Bush, Imogen Heap and Florence + the Machine.  It also highlights the potential of this new software I'm using (Ableton Live) to build the foundation of nearly every song on this album!  Lucid is really an anchor song for the album as it is the first song I wrote about the dream world which quickly inspired a slue of additional dream-themed songs.  It became difficult to deny a growing theme and a perfect opportunity to hone in on my long anticipated concept album so I embraced it with open arms.

In my personal experience, dreams have been a vital part of both self-awareness and wonder.  I admit that I am generally ambushed by anxiety dreams on a nightly basis and I've been learning a lot about myself as a result so I essentially wanted to set "a night in the dreams of Gregory Douglass" music.  I'll give you more of an inside scoop on the making of Lucid in the near future but for now, check out the "teaser" promo video I recently posted...
Cheers!
Gregory
