As I'm sure you'll notice, the videos that I'm posting here for campaign club members are in no particular order whatsoever! The good news is that I'm actually back-logged with video footage now that it's July so the latest "vlog" features video footage from both January and February but better late than never : ) It's more time consuming than I had realized editing all this video so I'm trying to release them periodically while I juggle everything else as I don't want you to miss a beat... Once the album is complete, I'll still have video footage to continue to create until the album is officially released so the timing should all work out in the end!
Meanwhile, I just finished up a week in the studio that I had scheduled several weeks ago for myself. I literally had to schedule myself into my own schedule given the amount of projects I am juggling right now but nothing pleases me more than to make writing & recording a priority for a week and that's really all I did. It was a giant leap of progress and I have lots of good footage as a result. Of course, I would have lots more if I had thought to ensure the internal microphone was on in my computer during some of the recording so I lost a few days of me talking/singing to the camera with no sound being recorded : ( Oh well, live and learn! I tried to recap what was missed and all the footage collected is soon to come...
In the latest "vlog" I highlight a few older song ideas that have come to fruition, including a song that I started writing awhile after the Katrina disaster. I was so haunted by the landscape surrounding New Orleans as I traveled through on my last major national tour that inspiration struck and the initial ideas have been enough to haunt me ever since. The day after the earthquake hit in Haiti, I finished the song almost inherently. The song is called "Casualties" and I think it captures the surrealistic feeling we all have when major catastrophes like this occur, though I can't imagine being directly in the line of fire necessarily...
Lots more to come as I'm being a bit of an Ableton Live master in the studio and I'm creating things I would have never otherwise thanks to this incredible program! It's a bit of a shout-out to many of my bigger influences like Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel and the innovators of today like Imogen Heap, The Bird & The Bee and many others. I think the writing still screams Gregory Douglass but it's definitely a whole new level of production!
Thanks for your continued support!
Cheers,
Gregory
